Snow plowing in Yakima from the same crew that works on your trees

When winter comes the crew that handles your trees also plows and clears snow around Yakima. Call or text to get on the list.

Chapter 01

Before the first storm blocks the drive

The first real snowfall catches most people the same way. The driveway is blocked, the lot is unplowed, and every plow contractor in town is already booked. The difference is made earlier in the season, with a phone call, not on the morning of the storm.

West Valley Tree Service lists snow plowing on its website and snow removal on its flyers, alongside the tree work. It is a seasonal service from a tree crew with trucks, trailers and equipment already on the road, and it is the same phone number you call for everything else. Details such as what is covered and how it works are settled by talking to Carlos, so there are no set routes or prices printed here.

Ice under the trees and snow on the limbs

A tree service plows with a particular eye for what is overhead. Under the drip line of a tree, snow melts, drips and refreezes, and a patch of black ice forms in the same spot every cold morning. Shaded stretches of drive beside evergreens hold ice well after the open ground has cleared. Low limbs over a parking area get snagged by trucks and dropped on windshields.

Snow loading is the other half. Wet snow piles on evergreen limbs and bends arborvitae over, and a limb that is already weak may split. If you want to relieve a loaded shrub yourself, brush the snow gently upward from underneath with a broom, and leave frozen branches alone, because brittle wood breaks. Never stand under a heavy, loaded limb. A split limb or a leaning tree after a storm is hazardous tree work, and that crew picks up the same phone.

The truck above is the crew's aerial-lift truck on a night call with its work lights on. Work that cannot wait for daylight gets the same answer in January as it does in July: call or text and the crew comes out.

Chapter 03

Getting on the list

Call or text (509) 961-5496 before the season starts and ask Carlos about plowing for your driveway or lot. Say where you are, whether it is a home or a business, and how much ground there is, and a photo or a map pin helps. Ask for a free quote.

The crew is always available after hours. Service covers Yakima, West Valley, Union Gap, Selah, Naches, Toppenish and Wapato and the surrounding areas. Veterans receive 10% off.

There are no promises about arrival times or routes on this page, because those depend on the storm and on the list at that point in the winter. What you get is a direct line to the person running the crew, and a conversation before the first flake.

“Prompt, professional, and personable.” Brian Durr, Google review of a West Valley tree job.
